A plan is set in place for the business to grow…

  • What IT infrastructure is required to support this growth?

It requires expertise to know what servers and PC's are needed and how best to connect them all together.

Staff might like to be able to access information from the system while out of the office.

  • Is there expertise within the organisation to do this in a cost effective efficient manner?
  • Are security risks managed?

There may be someone who can manage the day to day running of the infrastructure, but are they able to deal with the big picture so they know when equipment will need to be replaced, ensuring all new hardware and software are compatible with the existing items?

COGITA has the expertise and the tools to take the guess work out of IT planning. As a trusted advisor we are able to assist with ensuring the solution meets the fundamental requirements and will advise on which features and functions are essential and those that are maybe a bit over the top.

We provide advice on getting the most out of the business IT investment already made and we ensure advice is given on the risks that threaten the initiatives and how to mitigate them.

Real world example #1
An Auckland company in 2006 began to set up a distribution warehouse as part of a strategic and tactical business initiative. Premises were selected, racking installed, forklifts acquired and even staffing hired. On the day of the first dispatch it dawned on the management that IT equipment, telephony, printing, faxing, etc had been forgotten. There was a 2 week delay until these components were purchased and implemented at premium prices.

Real world example #2
An Auckland manager in 2005 was reviewing a purchase of a Business Intelligence solution and anticipating the purchase of a $20k server to host it. Through a review of current equipment and $5k worth of memory and disk he was able to leverage equipment already present — saving him $15k.
